Yes. We are committed to providing high-quality care to all children. We welcome children with medical needs, developmental delays, and behavioral needs, and we partner closely with families as each child grows and their needs evolve. We also value and honor children’s home cultures and strive to create opportunities for children to experience, interact with, and learn alongside people of diverse cultures, backgrounds, and abilities.

Tours run about 30 minutes. You'll start by being welcomed by a member of our admin team, then head straight to the classroom your child would join, so you can see that specific environment and get a feel for the age group's daily rhythm. From there, we'll walk you through the rest of the building and out to the playground, cover some of the logistical policies you'll want to know as a prospective family, and leave plenty of time to answer any questions you have.

We are a pork-free, shellfish-free, and nut-free center. Beyond that, if your child has an allergy or dietary restriction that rules out something we serve, we ask families to bring in a replacement for that specific item like matching protein for protein, veggie for veggie, grain for grain. For example, if your child is lactose intolerant and can't have the yogurt we serve, you'd bring a dairy-free yogurt, or an alternative like eggs or oatmeal.

At GSECC, social-emotional learning isn't a subject we teach once a day — it's the foundation underneath everything we do. Whether your child is stacking blocks, painting, or playing outside, we're using that moment to help them build self-awareness, emotional regulation, empathy, and confidence. Our "Rooted in Growth" framework is grounded in research from child development experts like Carol Dweck (growth mindset), Lev Vygotsky (scaffolding), and the CASEL framework for social-emotional learning  and it shapes our monthly themes, our language with children, and even how we design our classrooms.

Each month, our classrooms explore a theme that builds specific social-emotional skills things like "My Family, Your Family, All Families," "Acts of Kindness," "We All Have Differences," and "We Are AWESOME!" (our growth-mindset month). Themes are woven into books, art, songs, and conversation throughout the day, with activities adapted for each age group. We share the theme with families each month through Brightwheel, along with book and activity ideas so you can extend the learning at home.

Growth mindset is the belief that abilities grow through effort and practice, not that they're fixed from birth. You'll hear our teachers praise effort over innate ability ("You worked so hard on that!" instead of "You're so smart!"), normalize mistakes as part of learning ("Mistakes help our brains grow"), and use the word "yet" a lot ("I can't do it yet"). It's a small language shift with a big impact on how children respond to challenges.

Yes. Families are welcome to visit their child's classroom at any time during operating hours. We believe transparency builds trust, and we want you to feel like a genuine partner in your child's care.

We use Brightwheel for daily updates: meals, naps, diapering/toileting, and notable moments from the day  along with photos and observations tied to what your child is learning.

We treat behavior as communication, not misbehavior to punish. Our first question is always "what is this child trying to tell us?" Are they overtired, hungry, seeking connection, or overwhelmed by big feelings? From there, we use a consistent six-step approach across every classroom: setting a clear boundary, holding that boundary with empathy, allowing space for emotional release, reconnecting warmly once the child is calm, talking through what happened in age-appropriate ways, and when relevant, helping the child make amends. The goal is always teaching.
