About the Role
As a lead teacher you are responsible for planning and help implementing a play based High Scope curriculum in your classroom. You are to create and maintain a safe, fun learning environment, establish and maintain positive family and child relationships, communicate child’s needs to parents and other staff. You are to communicate the needs of the classroom effectively to the program supervisor/director. You are responsible for setting up a system for cleaning, organization, and daily routines. As a lead teacher you are required to observe the children and plan activities based on those observations and instruct assistant teachers and support staff on their duties. Full time position, closing shift.
Requirements
Qualifications prior to hire:
18 years or older
Have a Merit Account
Clear Merit Background Check
High school Diploma/GED
Negative TB Test (or clear chest Xray)
Covid Vaccine, with proof
Meet STARS requirements
First Aid/CPR/Blood borne Pathogens
Food Handler's Permit
Prefer 45 ECE credits or willing to obtain 45 ECE credits within 2 years
At least 2 years experience working with children in an early learning center
STARS 30-Hour Basic Training
Strong communications skills
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
Planning a play-based, Social Emotional Curriculum
Create a fun, safe learning environment
Develop and maintains a consistent class schedule, routine that ensure adequate physical activity, rest and playtime
Communicate with families about their child's growth and progress
Build a strong relationship with each child and family in the classroom
Responsive to children's basic needs
Maintain a safe & healthy environment
Use appropriate behavior management and follow the centers guidelines
Some knowledge of children's entertainment
Ability to multitask
Ability to speak to adults about confidential and awkward information
Maintain confidentiality
Ability to life 30 - 60lbs
